Baltic Hills Farm Elite Horse Drawn Carriages
Our biggest evaluation for
everyone that participates in our horse drawn carriage operations, meaning you the customer, coachmen and all others, and
our first decision formed in coordinating your event is SAFETY. Baltic Hills Farm has had many years of combined horsemanship,
rode them, competed in various competitions, shown them, and driven them. Time tested safety policies and procedures have
earned us a pristine safety record, with no accidents or injuries. Our horses are members of our family and some restrictions
do apply as to what conditions in regards to where and when we will drive them. We have outlined a guide below for many questions
you may have. . We are fully insured and attach a copy of our insurance
to all our contracts.
How early do I need to schedule? While we encourage you to call
anytime, it is best to make reservations well in advance. Most events are booked a year in advance.
How
long is the carriage available for our event? Events are booked for a minimum of one hour. Your time will start
at the time and location you designate in your contract. Setup and clean up are not included in your hour. How long does it take a Horse
Drawn Carriage to go one mile? It takes approximately 30 minutes to go 1 mile. This is allowing a few stop signs; crossing
intersections that may extend time based on traffic. Long distances are not recommended for events that have a set
start time or guests waiting. Most choose to go a short distance and then have a limo waiting to go on from there, and the
Carriage is transported to a second stop, to arrive at your event in timely manner. Do you drive on busy streets? No. Residential areas, parks, side streets, forest
preserves and so forth are best for Horse Drawn Carriages, where speed limits are 25 to 35 miles per hour,
less is even better. Roadways will be evaluated on a per-case basis. Safety of our passengers and horses is
a priority; dangerous roadways will not be traveled. What
if we go over one hour? You will be charged a fee past the time you requested. How is the carriage driver dressed? The carriage driver is dressed formally in a black
top coat and top hat. We additionally have Kilts, Royal Guard Jackets and would be happy to discuss other dress
arrangements to match your event. What happens in case
of rain? If weather conditions present a risk to the safety of passengers or horses we reserve the right to cancel.
We do not cancel for rain until the last minute for us to load and leave to your event. Do you drive horses on days with extremely hot temperatures? In the hot summer,
mostly for afternoon rides the temperatures can be dangerously hot, we reserve the right to cancel we will not operate the
carriage if the temperatures are too extreme. Horses are living creatures and we ask all our customers to please remember
that. What happens to debris left by the horse or carriage
operators? Any horse waste or garbage is picked up and placed in proper garbage disposal containers that we carry with
us before we leave. Do we need to obtain any special
permits to have a horse and carriage? Some areas do not require permits, but some do, certain cities and
towns, private property, including neighborhoods, some public parks or reception venues. Please check with your choosen location
for any special requirments. Horse drawn carriages have not been removed from the old road rules, we must obey the law
as with any vehicle on the roads. Do we sign a written agreement? Yes. After we receive your deposit
we will send you a contract, sign it and return it with the remainder of contract total. Do we need a deposit? Yes a deposit is required
to reserve a date.
Do you charge for mileage?
Yes, we charge a trip charge to some locations.
How does the Horse and Carriage arrive to my event?
Horse and carriage are transported by truck and trailer to your location, then hitched up and driven to your designated
start location, ample space is necessary for unloading and reloading. Do you use a follow vehicle? Yes, you the customer will provide a follow vehicle, when we feel it is necessary. Do we need people to direct traffic? In some situations it is required,
you the customer will provide people to direct traffic. If supplied by us you will be charged additional fees over and above
the cost of the service. Do you rent or lease your Carriages
or Horses? Never!
How is the carriage decorated?
Fresh cut roses in different colors, based on availability
are available at an additional charge.
Serving Arlington Heights, Saint Charles, Naperville, Barrington,
Scahaumburg, Palatine, Algonquin, Oakbrook, Grayslake, Waukegan, Highland Park, Forrest Park, Rockford, Loves Park, All of
McHenry County. In Wisconsin Kenosha, Racine, Madison, Walworth, Sharon, White Water and surrounding areas of these cities.
